SUMMER FAMILY SESSION IN ABERDEEN

I'm only about 6 months late in blogging this session! Here's a throwback to June last year, when this lovely trio travelled up from Stirling to have a family session with me here in Aberdeen. Rebecca was just picture perfect with her freckles and bucketload of cuteness!

NCT Aberdeen Photo Fundraiser - Jack

We just about managed to avoid the rain for our NCT Aberdeen Photo Fundraiser Mini Session day at the end of February, but it did catch up with me in the end! But it was lovely to meet and photograph 11 amazing families, and Jack's mum has given me permission to share these images with you ahead of Mothers Day! Jack was just the absolute cutest - I mean look at that smile! How could you resist such a gorgeous face? No matter what the Aberdeen weather was up too, this little man had smiles aplenty.

Aberdeen Family Photography - Babywearing Session with Jemma

Jemma had been kindly gifted a babywearing session with me, to celebrate the arrival of her beautiful daughter. We took a wander along the Deeside Railway Line with baby E, who had promptly nodded off in the carrier! Babywearing is a great way for you to bond with your baby - you can't go wrong with hands free cuddles!

Aberdeen Baby Photographer - Babywearing Photography with Anne

You wouldn't think to look at these images, but there had been a torrential downpour of rain only 5 minutes before Anne's session was due to start! The autumn colours in Aberdeen looked particularly amazing that day, and were the perfect compliment to Anne's outfit and Woven Wings baby wrap. Baby H was of course happy and cosy snuggled up to mummy! My babywearing photography is available in both mini session and full session form, and is the perfect way to capture your babywearing memories (without giving yourself selfie neck crick!). You can get in touch to book yours here

Newborn baby Photography aberdeen and aberdeenshire - in the comfort of your own home

Becoming a parent for the first time, or welcoming a new baby in to your family is a wonderfully exciting time. However, it can be overwhelming, and you may feel like you will never leave the house on time again! After the birth of my second baby last year, I decided to rethink my newborn photography sessions, and what I was able to offer parents. Knowing how I felt in the early days with both my children, I wanted to make having my newborn photography session as enjoyable, and stress free, as possible.

A few people have asked me 'what happens during an at home newborn session?' and what it actually entails, so I thought I'd write a blog post to give you a deeper insight in to why it would be right for you and your family.

You can book your newborn photography session with me at any point in your pregnancy. To avoid disappointment, I do advise to book earlier rather than later.  But because I photograph newborns up to 8 weeks old, it give us a little leeway if you book nearer the end of your pregnancy, or even after baby is born. We can book you in via email, or if you'd like to talk over what you want from your newborn session, then we can chat on the phone or in person, and I'll answer any questions you may have!

Rather than you having to come to me, I come to your home.  This means you don't have to worry about getting ready, trying to work out feeds, putting baby in the car, or even getting dressed! I cover Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire mostly, but can travel further afield by arrangement. All you need to do is pop me an email or text once baby has been born and you're settled at home, and from there we organise a date for your session.

On the actual day of your newborn session, I'll ask you to make sure your house is cosy (just so baby is warm and comfortable for any undressed shots) but I don't need you to prepare much for my arrival. I aim to capture you getting to know your new baby - those moments that are so often missed and never committed to an image because they are just normal, everyday occurrences. These moments can be so beautiful, and truly show the connection between you all as a family, and I'll be there to photograph them as they happen.

My style is very natural and relaxed, and newborn sessions are entirely led by your baby - I listen to what they need and we go at their speed. Having worked with hundreds of families, I have lots of experience with newborns and know that they are most definitely in charge!   Sessions usually last around 2 to 2.5 hours, so there is lots of time for cuddling, milk and more cuddling throughout - there is absolutely no pressure on you or your baby at any point.

It can be a bit of a thought stepping in front of the camera, but I encourage all parents to get in the picture - it's a time you don't want to forget. Not only will you look back and be glad you did, but your children will cherish the images of you with them as newborns in the years to come.

I tailor your session uniquely to your family, so no two newborn sessions are ever the same. It's a great way to escape the onslaught of new baby visitors, by taking a quiet day with your family to bond, cuddle, chat over tea and biscuits, and enjoy creating some special memories together.

If this is your second, third or more baby, then I totally understand what it can be like dealing with a new baby and older siblings. They don't have to pose for me, and they can pop in and out as they feel able, meaning they can stay happy and relaxed (and so can you!). I often find that they like to 'help' me, and that's ok too!

If this sounds good to you, I'd love to tell you more! Drop me a line with your due date and location, and I'll reply within 48 hours, with an online booking form and answer any questions you may have.

Newborn Photographer Aberdeen - Baby Rory

Baby Rory is now 8 weeks old, but it only seem like a moment ago that I travelled out to his parents home in Banchory for his newborn photography session. I love going to see new babies and parents in their homes - where they are most comfortable - and spending a couple of hours with them, often with a cup of tea or two thrown in too!

Here is just a small selection of Rory's images - isn't he just the most handsome wee soul?

Aberdeen Family Photography - Outdoor Family Session

Sometimes as a photographer, you strike really, really lucky, and this was the case for Sarah's family photography session in Aberdeen. The light was gorgeous, and her daughters were impeccably behaved, making my job of capturing beautiful images of them all, super easy. I had such a hard time whittling down their gallery, but here is a small selection from the time we spent together

"Sometimes when you pick up your child you can feel the map of your own bones beneath your hands, or smell the scent of your skin in the nape of their neck. This is the most extraordinary thing about motherhood - finding a piece of yourself separate and apart that all the same you could not live without.”

Babywearing Photography - Rachael

Another of my big passions is babywearing, so when I get to combine it with photography, it makes me very happy indeed. Rachael joined me for a babywearing session and we headed off down to the River Dee to capture some images of her and her beautiful boy. Babywearing makes getting around Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire super easy - wherever you can go, baby can too! For local sling advice and support for you and your baby, visit Sling Fling

Here's just a couple of images from their mini session - and Rachaels thoughts immediately after her session

"Thank you for today Vivienne. I'm always a bit uncomfortable getting my photo taken at the best of times, but you put me and Braydon at ease and I really enjoyed it.

I absolutely adore the photo you shared. Such a special moment of me and my boy that I will cherish forever and I can't wait to see the others"

Baby Photography in Aberdeen - Konrad at 4 months

With two other beautiful children, and always being on the other side of the camera in family photos, Konrads mummy wanted to have a special session, just for her and her baby boy. With a lot of cuddles, milk and silly songs, we had a wonderful morning together. Even though naptime was beckoning, baby K was able to turn it on for the camera, but I love the natural images of him and his gorgeous mama the most.

I'm happy to photograph babies of any age, so don't feel like you have to delay a session till your baby is x amount of months. With my lifestyle at home or outdoor sessions, we can work with your baby to get the best images possible. Get in touch to find out more about a session for you and your family in Aberdeen or Aberdeenshire.

Here's just a small selection from their gallery - isn't K the cutest?

Aberdeen Newborn Photographer - Eleanor

I was honoured to be invited in to the Galloways beautiful family home in Aberdeen, all the way back in March (eek, I am so behind on sharing sessions!) to photograph their precious daughter Eleanor. At 6 weeks, Eleanor was a little older than babies I usually photograph. But because I adopt a lifestyle approach to newborn photography, it's absolutely fine if babies are a little older,  and not quite as sleepy as they were when they were first born!

You can find out more about my newborn photography sessions over on the newborns page, or get in touch to discuss your bespoke at home newborn session

Aberdeen Lifestyle Photography - Breastfeeding Portraits with S+J

The beautiful new mama Sarah and her gorgeous 6 week old son Jack joined me down by the River Dee in Peterculter this week. The sun was making a wonderful appearance, and it was the perfect setting to capture some natural images of Sarah breastfeeding her little one. Sarah makes motherhood look easy - thank you so much for sharing your special moment with me.
