Aberdeen Newborn Photographer - Baby Aidan

Baby Aidan kept his mum and dad waiting for his arrival, but I didn't have to wait too long to meet him and photograph this gorgeous family at home. Aidan kept us on our toes, and you can tell from these images that there is more than a hint of mischief in this little squish. Here's just a few images from their gallery - my summer availability is very limited due to booked in newborns and weddings, so if you're looking for relaxed and natural newborn photography at home, I'd love to hear from you. You can find more information about my sessions + packages here

Baby Josephine - Aberdeen Newborn Photography

BEAUTIFUL, NATURAL AND RELAXED - NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHY IN ABERDEEN

Beautiful baby Josephine and her gorgeous mama Morag responded to model call on Facebook last month, and their session was just perfection.

"Vivienne came to our home to shoot a newborn session after I'd volunteered for a model call. I'd never met Vivienne but from the minute she came into our home it felt like having an old friend come to visit. She made it a relaxed and fun experience for all of us, even my huffy 2 year old! She caught some wonderful natural moments and was happy to wait when my daughter needed fed or changed. The photos are absolutely gorgeous, I couldn't be happier with them! I couldn't recommend Vivienne highly enough. My only regret is not having booked a session for my first born! Thank you!"

Capturing those special little details was a big part of this session - I adore Josephine's tiny hand resting on her mama's chest. And those lips - what a pout! I really wanted to celebrate just how amazing women's bodies are with this session, and Morag bravely bared her belly, less than two weeks after welcoming baby Josephine in to the world.

In my sessions, I always aim to capture images that make your heart swell when you see them, the sort of images that I would have loved to have when my two were newborns. Sometimes the first few weeks are such a whirlwind, that you forget to just sit, and soak in that gorgeous newborn smell. Morag was more than happy to relax and breathe in her baby while I captured them together.

Josephine is lucky to have a very handsome and doting older brother, and watching the hearts of siblings grow right in front of your eyes is just amazing.

And there's always time for some cuddles with Daddy - I might have even more of an obsession with baby hands than I do with baby feet!

My at home sessions are available in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire, and I'm now booking right through to September. Summer availability is limited and booking up fast - if you'd like to secure your newborn session with me, I'd love for you to get in touch!  You can find more information about newborn sessions here.

Baby G - Family and Newborn Photography, Aberdeen

NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHY AT HOME, ABERDEEN

One of the best parts about an at home newborn session is easily being able to incorporate the whole family in to the shoot, without any stress or pressure, especially on the younger members of the clan! I had a lovely morning spent with the Fotheringhams in the west end of Aberdeen, celebrating the arrival of their beautiful new daughter, who was being doted on by her big proud sister. Here's just a few images from their session (may take a moment to load - give it a second if they don't appear immediately)

A WINTER WEDDING AT LOGIE COUNTRY HOUSE

LOGIE COUNTRY HOUSE - ABERDEENSHIRE WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY

It's always a treat to shoot at Logie Country House, and we had the best time at the wedding of Jo and Euan at the end of last year. There were a lot of happy tears! Here's a tiny sneak peek of their snowy wedding day -

Second Shooter - Kendall Thow

Videography - Katie at Forever Visuals

ARCHIE - NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHER IN ABERDEEN

Oh Archie. My first baby of 2018 was a deliciously squishy gorgeous baby boy called Archie, who is very lucky to have two wonderful big sisters to take care of him. His lovely mama is a little bit of a superwoman - she was even out volunteering for the Aberdeen branch of NCT when Archie was just over a week old! Here's just a sneak peek of their at home newborn session, and some lovely words from Emma

"What a lovely, relaxed time we had during our little boys newborn photo shoot. Vivienne captured real life moments with our wee boy and his big sisters. I am so pleased with the finished photos and these will be a great reminder of the early days of Archie’s life. Precious memories."

The Barn At Barra Castle - Getting Married at The Barn at Barra

The Barn at Barra Castle is one of Aberdeenshire's newest venues, situated between Inverurie and Oldmeldrum, and is already popular with couples and photographers alike. As an exclusive use venue, it's yours to enjoy as you wish, and it's a perfect blank canvas on which to create your beautiful wedding day.

I had the pleasure of photographing 2 weddings there last September, with both of my couples taking the risk of booking Barra Barn when it was very much still a cowshed! But David and Sarah Stephen have successfully created a unique and stunning venue, and I'm looking forward to when I can next return!

Pop the kettle on and enjoy these slideshows from The Barn at Barra Castle

Hannah and Tim got married at Kings College, Aberdeen before heading to Barra Barn for drinks, food and dancing. Their wedding had hints of inspiration from Tim's Zimbabwean roots. Their full wedding blog post is here

Vicki and Neil held their full wedding at the Barn at Barra, with bride and groom preparations both at home and in one of the lodges on the estate. You can view their full wedding blog post here

If you're looking for a wedding photographer to document your big day, I'd love to hear from you. You can have a look at some more of my work over in the Weddings section of my website.

2017 WEDDING HIGHLIGHTS

This post has taken me about three times as long as I care to admit. I hadn't expected looking back over my 2017 weddings to take me on such a rollercoaster of emotion! So many happy, beautiful, tearful, joyful, hilarious and downright awesome moments, and I am so honoured that my amazing couples trusted me to capture them (and then said some super nice things about me too). I've got to work with some fantastic suppliers, amazing fellow photographers, and visit some gorgeous venues all over Aberdeenshire, from an outdoor marquee wedding at home in Royal Deeside to The Barn at Barra, Banchory LodgeLogie Country House, Fasque Castle and more. I've cantered across fields, stood in rivers, pinned countless buttonholes, blotted tears and laughed a lot. I even entered the depths of an Orcadian reel and lived to tell the tale - 2017, you were a blast!

I've sort of cheated by making a video (scroll down for that), but I wanted to share a few images here with you as well (and you should know by know that my 'few' means 'many' so grab a cuppa!)

I'd love to hear all about your wedding plans and have a chat about capturing your wedding story, so pop me a note and we can take it from there!

Rosanna and John planned a picture perfect outdoor wedding at Rosanna's parents home in Royal Deeside. Despite a week of rain beforehand, the sun shone on their beautiful day - view the full blog post here. Their wedding was also featured over on We Fell in Love

Natalie and Greg planned their Pittodrie House wedding in less than 4 months, and their children were over the moon to see Mummy and Daddy finally get hitched! The above image won a Highly Commended award with the Society of Wedding and Portrait Photographers in June, and I might have been shedding a wee tear with the girls when I saw them coming up the aisle - view the full blog post here.

Laura's mum made all the beautiful harvest/rustic handtied bouquets for her wedding to Paul - and their detail filled day at the stunning Kings College and unique Woodend Barn was a joy. View the full blog post here.

A beautiful bride + sparkly bokeh + those eyes - Mhariann and Jason's wedding at Banchory Lodge was full of love.

Sunshine, gorgeous blooms and a whole lot of love went down at Vicki and Neil's September wedding at The Barn at Barra. Epic blog post full of wedding goodness can be found here

Hannah and Tim got married at Kings College and The Barn at Barra back in September. Not only did they have a beautifully choreographed first dance, but some of their bridal party and friends formed a choir during speeches to sing! And they looked THIS happy literally all day long - see it all here

Michelle and Keith got married at Logie Country House back in April. Keith was super chuffed to finally get Michelle up the aisle after 21 years together (Michelle looks like she feels the same way too!) See their full day here

Tania and Rory wed at the stunning Fasque Castle, on a beautiful autumn day - the bride rocking trainers under her bespoke Ian Stuart gown.

Kelly and Damien got married in October at Banff Springs, up on the Moray coast. And just a few days later, they welcomed their first baby in to the world. Talk about a whirlwind week! I just love this image of Kelly who braved a slightly chilly breeze down at the beach!

Amanda and Keil. All the love for this gorgeous pair - you can see more from their day at Banchory Lodge here

I may have had a wee cry when this landed in my inbox! -

"I just wanted to pop you a line to tell you how eternally and amazingly grateful my husband (!) and I are for your absolutely amazing work on our wedding - from start to finish. It was an absolute pleasure getting to know you; I don't want to say "working with you" because it really felt as though you were part of our day and capturing the atmosphere from the heart!

I have had so many comments from friends and family on the photos we have received so far and everyone not only thinks they're beautiful but has mentioned how happy we look. Of course we like to think we were happy on the day, but I think it's something really special that you managed to capture that essence of us in all of your work! Your relaxed and unobtrusive style was exactly what we were looking for and our guests have commented that they barely remember there being a photographer there on the day - which is a testament to just how discreet and fantastic you were!!

We honestly cannot thank you enough for your beautiful beautiful work - you are so incredibly talented at what you do and we feel blessed to have the opportunity to work with you. For two people who are uncomfortable around cameras, you managed to capture us at our best."

I'm not crying, you are....we ALL were at this super sweet moment between Jo and her dad Charlie last weekend at Logie Country House.

Who's ready for that video now? These are just a few of my favourites from 2017, and I did my best to keep the number down! I absolutely cannot wait to get started with my 2018 weddings - we are going to have the BEST time.

If you are getting married in Scotland (or even further afield!), then pop on over to my Weddings page - drop me a line anytime, I love, love, love to talk weddings!

Newborn Photographer in Aberdeen - 2017 Highlights

2017 was an absolute blast for me! Weddings, babies, and families galore - I have enjoyed photographing each and every one, and feel really honoured that you all trusted me with your most special moments. Looking back over my images from last year has been a total rollercoaster of emotions - laughter, tears and ALL.THE.FEELS. If you aren't pregnant and are in any way broody, you maybe shouldn't watch this video - there is an abundance of squishy goodness within.

I'm taking bookings for relaxed baby led newborn sessions at home in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire from now right through to July due dates. If you'd like to find out a little bit more, you can pop me an email and we can chat about your session!

SUMMER FAMILY SESSION IN ABERDEEN

I'm only about 6 months late in blogging this session! Here's a throwback to June last year, when this lovely trio travelled up from Stirling to have a family session with me here in Aberdeen. Rebecca was just picture perfect with her freckles and bucketload of cuteness!

CAPTURING PERSONALITY - FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHY ABERDEEN

No family is perfect, and as a photographer, it's the perfectly imperfect moments that I love capturing most. The cheeky grins, giggles, twirls, jumps, stick finding, leaf throwing, rounds of peekaboo, and shrieks of laughter as your children run in the completely opposite direction to my camera are what makes a session special. I want you to remember it as a lovely few hours spent with the ones you love, rather than an experience to be endured!

This was my third time capturing the Farthing family, and I just wanted to show you a handful of their 'perfectly imperfect' moments

Family sessions are available all year round - if you'd like to book yours or gift a voucher, then you can contact me here

NCT ABERDEEN MINI SESSIONS - OCTOBER

The NCT mini session photo fundraiser event is such good fun! I love meeting lots of lovely new families, and getting the opportunity to photograph some existing clients again, knowing that the images we create are often Christmas gifts. I took the mini sessions to my home town of Culter this year, and it served as the perfect backdrop for giggly smiles and mischief making. Thank you to all the families who take up these slots every year - they help raise vital funds for the Aberdeen branch, meaning they can do more awesome work supporting local parents.

Here's just a little glimpse of what we got up to!

FAMILY SESSION AT HOME - ROSE TURNS 1

You might remember the beautiful baby Rose as a teeny tiny newborn on the blog earlier this year. I had the pleasure of going back to visit the gorgeous Woodward family as they prepared for the very exciting occasion of Rose turning 1. We started at their home in Bridge of Don, before heading over to a chilly but beautiful Scotstown Moor for some outdoor shots, where Rose's grandparents (and their super cute dog) joined us! Here's just a few images from their session

I shoot outdoor sessions all year round - you don't need to wait for 'good' weather to get your family portraits taken!  And if the weather is really against us, then an at home session, no matter how old your baby or child, can be the perfect solution. I'd love to chat - pop me a message!

AT HOME NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHY IN ABERDEEN

Not only did this beautiful new squish have their newborn session at home, but she arrived in to the world at home too - isn't that amazing? She was so lucky to have not only her mum and dad doting on her, but her gorgeous big sister and grandmother too. I had a lovely morning with them all (there was cake and if there's one way to make me happy, then cake is it) and absolutely adore their images. There were so many beautiful moments while they just enjoyed normal family life.

My newborn sessions aren't about props, or posing, or fancy backdrops, because your family is unique and special, just the way you are.

I am booking right through to spring 2018 at the moment, so if you're Aberdeen or Aberdeenshire based and expecting a baby, I would love to talk to you.

Ok, enough waffling from me, here's a small selection of images from their newborn session!

JACK - ABERDEEN NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHY

Oh me, oh my, little Jack was just the cutest. I had photographed big brother Callum last year  and it was lovely to see the family again, especially because not only was there a beautiful new baby to photograph, but lots of upcoming wedding chat to be had as well!

My newborn photography style is really relaxed and natural, and sessions should feel like a morning spent cuddling your baby, rather than a photo shoot.  I just document you and your family as you get to know your brand new squish - those little moments that are so special, but pass in the blink of an eye. If you're expecting, I'd love to chat and hear more about your impending arrival - you can email me here

Here's just a little peek at their newborn at home session last month
