AT HOME NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHY IN ABERDEEN

Not only did this beautiful new squish have their newborn session at home, but she arrived in to the world at home too - isn't that amazing? She was so lucky to have not only her mum and dad doting on her, but her gorgeous big sister and grandmother too. I had a lovely morning with them all (there was cake and if there's one way to make me happy, then cake is it) and absolutely adore their images. There were so many beautiful moments while they just enjoyed normal family life.

My newborn sessions aren't about props, or posing, or fancy backdrops, because your family is unique and special, just the way you are.

I am booking right through to spring 2018 at the moment, so if you're Aberdeen or Aberdeenshire based and expecting a baby, I would love to talk to you.

Ok, enough waffling from me, here's a small selection of images from their newborn session!

JACK - ABERDEEN NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHY

Oh me, oh my, little Jack was just the cutest. I had photographed big brother Callum last year  and it was lovely to see the family again, especially because not only was there a beautiful new baby to photograph, but lots of upcoming wedding chat to be had as well!

My newborn photography style is really relaxed and natural, and sessions should feel like a morning spent cuddling your baby, rather than a photo shoot.  I just document you and your family as you get to know your brand new squish - those little moments that are so special, but pass in the blink of an eye. If you're expecting, I'd love to chat and hear more about your impending arrival - you can email me here

BARN AT BARRA CASTLE WEDDING - ABERDEEN WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY

Oh my, this wedding was just beautiful from start to finish!  The Barn at Barra Castle, near Oldmeldrum,  was the perfect backdrop for two amazing families to come together and celebrate Vicki and Neil getting hitched.

We started the day at Vicki's parents before scooting over to The Barn at Barra Castle lodges for the final preparations, and the big I Do's! The sun shone, the drinks flowed, and amazing band The Watershed kept everyone entertained at night. I really struggled to pick a small selection.....so it's a bit of a big one - give it a minute to load if you can only see a few!

There was an abundance of cute at the NCT Aberdeen mini sessions a few weeks ago, and this gorgeous brother and sister pair were no exception. Chloe's curls are just to die for! Gorgeous Marquee Wedding at Balmakewan

When Donna of Donna Murray Photography invited me along to second shoot with her at the wedding of Nicky and Kenny at Balmakewan, near Laurencekirk, I jumped at the chance. Looking at these photos full of sunshine, you wouldn't think there was hours of torrential rain that morning! Here's just a few images from their beautiful day.

FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHY - NCT ABERDEEN PHOTO FUNDRAISER

Oh it's been quiet here, I am sorry! September/October was a super busy time, and I've neglected my poor old blog. .But, I'm looking forward to showing you lots of gorgeous images, starting with this beautiful threesome who came to see me as part of the NCT Aberdeen Photo Fundraiser event! Every year, local photographers help to raise money to help support local parents across the region, and it's always really popular, with slots selling out in less than 2 hours this year! Thank you to everyone who purchased a slot, which helped the branch raise hundreds for their support groups and services

Kings College and Woodend Barn - Aberdeenshire Wedding Photography

Laura and Pauls wedding was last weekend, and we had so much fun! They had chosen the stunning Kings College at the University of Aberdeen for their intimate and personal ceremony - led by Paul's Uncle Gary, which added an extra special touch. Then we headed over to Banchory to The Barn, a beautiful Banchory venue, which hosts lots of art displays, theatre and musical events as well as just 12 weddings a year. Laura's family had done an amazing job of decorating it, with Laura's mum also creating beautiful bouquets of rustic dried flowers and buttonholes for the wedding party! After some fab speeches and gorgeous food, Empire Wedding Band had the dance floor jumping! Here's just a small sneak peek from their day -

BARN AT BARRA CASTLE WEDDING - HANNAH AND TIM

Hannah and Tim were quick off the block booking the beautiful new Aberdeenshire wedding venue, Barn at Barra Castle, when it was still very much in the construction stages. I've been excitedly waiting for this wedding to come around, and it didn't disappoint, with the sun shining, a touch of Zimbabwean flair, a singing bridal party and some twirly whirly ceilidh dancing!

I really struggled to whittle these down for a blog post, so it's a bit of an epic one! I love how Barn at Barra Castle is a completely blank canvas - each bride and groom can put their own stamp on it, and I adored the happy yellow and blue flowers that decorated the venue, which was done by the family themselves the day before the wedding! Hannah's gorgeous bouquet was by Sakura Florist, based in Alford, and it continued the pretty yellow and blue theme.

Hannah was the most stunning, ethereal bride - her hair done by Rebecca Carr, and make up by Tiffany Dawson

Thanks to Nicola Stewart for second shooting for me, and the ceilidh band who had everyone whirling with great enthusiasm was Ceildih Stomp

Sarah - Outdoor Family Session in Aberdeen

Even with 5 adults accompanying her, it was definitely young Miss Sarah who took us for a walk on this lovely family session last month! So full of mischief and quite literally a whirlwind of gorgeous curls and giggles, we had great fun running around in the woods on a lovely sunny afternoon.

The seasons are changing and my most favourite (and busiest) time of year for family sessions is coming up!  Autumn is a wonderful time to capture you all together, with the beautiful gold and red colours of the trees providing the perfect backdrop. Pop me a line here and tell me what you'd love for your session!

Laura and Paul - Engagement Session Aberdeen

A gorgeous summer's evening and this loved up pair made for a gorgeous pre wedding session a few weeks ago! I love doing these sessions, getting to know couples a little bit more in advance of their wedding and hearing all about their exciting plans!

A New Adventure

It feels like no time and forever since a small, not quite 8lb bundle of baby boy was placed in my arms. In the light of a new moon and under the darkness of an eclipse, our lives were irrevocably and wonderfully changed forever by Toby's arrival. And tomorrow, he will begin a new adventure at school, setting foot in to his Primary One classroom and starting a journey of his own.  I'm not sure how this day has sneaked up on us so fast - 7 weeks of holidays seems like a long time as they stretch ahead of you at the end of the summer term. But they have passed in a whirlwind of playdates, sleepovers, park/zoo/soft play/cinema visits, beach trips + train rides, and lazy, snuggly days. Whilst the return to routine will be welcome, I wish we could have those weeks all over again. T has a little sister who is going to miss her 'best friend Buboo' very, very much. They adore one another (in between fighting over Lego), and we had a lovely time yesterday capturing some final holiday moments of them both.

Good luck to all the Primary One starters tomorrow - deep breaths Mums, they will be FINE (that's what I'm telling myself anyway!)

Banchory Lodge Wedding - Amanda and Keil

Sometimes there's a wedding that gets you right in the feels, and this was one of them. When Amanda's Irish grandad serenaded us with a traditional song for his wedding speech - oh my heart - I could barely take it! So much love in the room for these guys, and rightly so - they are made for each other. Here's a sneak peek from their day at Kings College Aberdeen and Banchory Lodge Hotel

Pre Wedding Session in Aberdeen

Amanda and Keil are becoming Mr and Mrs this Saturday, and their son Magnus and I just can't wait! We met up a couple of weeks ago to chat through the final details of their day, and do a pre wedding photo session. This is a great a chance for everyone to relax and feel comfortable in front of the camera before the big day....although I don't think young Magnus has any issues with feeling camera shy! SO handsome.

Looking forward to lots of laughs and dance floor action - it's going to be a fantastic day!

Beautiful Summer Wedding - Aswanley, Huntly

I recently had the pleasure of heading out to Aswanley, near Huntly, as a second shooter for the lovely Emma Lawson Photography. With fellow photographer Donna Murray also along to second shoot, we started our day over at the Craigellachie Hotel, before I rode with the boys to Aswanley to wait patiently for the bride to arrive!

The whole wedding was gorgeous from start to finish - here's just a few favourites of mine from the day
